The event featured our 6' Black Suede Domino Bar, Mason and Matisse Cocktail Tables, White Stretch Cotton Armless Loveseats and Chairs, White Leather Round Ottomans, Havana Outdoor Line, and Barcelona Chairs.

We mentioned that d8* had a strong presence at the Grammy's and we wanted to show you some behind the scenes footage from that special event. These photos were taken during our install process a few days prior to the Grammy show. d8* furniture was used for a special VIP party held in the City View Terrace section of the Staples Center. d8* items were beautifully presented in the space and included our brand new Kane Sofa, Kane Chair, Kidwell Sofa, Marie Antoinette and Alexander Chandeliers, White Lacquer Parsons Tables, White Leather Tufted Bourne Daybed, and Aspen Ottomans.

ISES Event

We were at yet another great design event !! designer8* Event Furniture Rental participated in the ISES-Northern California Top Design event January 18, 2011 at the San Francisco Design Center. Our beautiful

Monterey Side Chairs were featured at a booth designed by the talented team at Classic – San Francisco. The chairs were accompanied by a very cool and eclectic set up of primitive pieces along with neutral colors throughout the booth and a bright splash of color from the fresh fuchsia colored arrangements. A great example of how our selection of furniture can be paired with almost any setting. Special thanks goes out to Marisa Canoles at Classic Party Rentals – San Francisco for her help in organizing this event.

Grammy's

We were at the Grammy's this past weekend! This is our first blog posting about the Grammy's but we will have more photos and details from other exciting events that went on at both the Staples Center and the Convention Center. Our furniture was featured at the EMI Music Party this past Sunday February 13th at the Staples Center and included quite a few d8* vignettes for their VIP guests which included Katy Perry, Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman, Lady Antebellum, and many more. The mix of vignette's included pieces from our extensive collection: Athena Sofa, Slipper Chair, and Ottoman, Serpentine Sectional, Eco Loveseats and Ottomans, Tufted White Leather Benches, Tucson Chairs, Black Leather X-Ottomans, Soleil Coffee Tables, and many more.

Sonoma Event

Gorgeous event photos from Sonoma Valley. designer8* Event Furniture Rental was featured in Crate and Barrel’s October “Ultimate Wedding Contest” The event was held at the scenic Stryker Sonoma Winery in Sonoma, California and featured celebrity Event Planner Jo Gartin. Contest participants lounged on d8* furniture including our Diamond Tufted line in Charcoal Suede, Barcelona Loveseats, White Leather Wingback Chairs, White Canvas Ottomans and Banquettes, and our white leather Athena Ottoman. WELL, WE’VE FINALLY DONE IT!! We’ve created the first ever designer 8* Event Furniture Rental blog for all our fans and followers. We are very excited to be able to share our ideas and thoughts on our fantastic furniture lines, event planning ideas, and also what we have in store for the future. We will also have some amazing event photos to share from some of the glamorous movie premieres that we’ve done along with weddings, major corporate events, trade shows, and whatever else comes our way. We would love to hear from you and get your feedback on our products and services, that is the main reason we are doing this.

We wanted to make our first blog something special and wanted to give you an idea of what our company was all about and how it came to be. Our special guest and interviewee today is none other than the talented and creative owner of the designer 8* Event Furniture Brand, Samantha Sackler

Samantha Sackler

Good morning Samantha thanks for taking the time to give us some feedback on yourself and the event furniture business. My first question is pretty simple, how long have you been in the event planning business and how did you get started?

I have been in the event business since 1995. I started my own event production company, Events In Motion, so that makes me in the business for 16 years. It has been a whirlwind owning an event production company with bi-coastal locations. Specializing in corporate events, movie premieres and gala’s really helped us become one of the trendsetters in our industry. I immediately saw a need for event furniture since most events were steering away from PROP style rentals and going lounge. In 2004 I opened Manhattan Furniture Rental in New York City. Event Planners were looking for the opportunity to design on their own and not have to hire designers directly. They were interested in creating an ambiance and lounge style environment that blended with their overall event, and with the economy on a roller coaster ride during that time it really helped keep their costs down during planning.

So you opened your first event furniture business in New York in 2004, what made you decide to open designer 8* throughout the rest of the country and what year was that?

Opening designer 8* Event Furniture Rental in 2006 helped me give event planners/designers the ability to create trendy and stylish events nationwide. The goal was to partner with the largest Party Rental Company in the country and work with their team to be an all encompassing rental company. With this we are able to provide the product and services that planners need to really take their event to the next level.

What a clever name for your company, how did you come up with designer 8* Event Furniture Rental?

We are definitely a designer furniture company and eight is just my lucky number!

Some people think that planning events is easy, what do you find to be the most challenging aspect of organizing an event?

I think the actual event space that planners need to accommodate tends to be the biggest challenge. Laying out an event and really utilizing the best type of flow and feel for that occasion appears to be the biggest challenge for most and it can be overwhelming for clients when bringing in furniture and introducing other rental options. I think that is why our company has been so successful. We are here to service event planners and designers by laying out their events and working on floor plans and flow as well as piecing together the “right” lounge vignettes, it can be a tough task though. Once we work one-on-one with our clients they learn fast and are well on their way to plotting future events on their own.

Sounds like you are definitely a hands-on company, what type of events are your clients approaching you to handle?

designer 8* Event Furniture Rental handles all types of events including; gala’s, movie premieres, Academy Award parties, Grammy’s, sports events, weddings, tradeshows, and corporate functions. Our vision and design really does set the trend for what the latest and hottest events have to offer. Our client list and party roster is quite impressive and that is due to the amazing partnership we have with Classic Party Rentals and our sales team. I really love what we do as it is never the same thing.

The gallery link on the designer 8* website is amazing! It is loaded with so many cool event photos. Speaking of exciting events, does d8* have any coming up that you want to mention?

We are currently working on the Super Bowl in Dallas, the Grammy’s and the NBA All Stars at the Staples Center here in LA. Each year it is so exciting to have our clients call us and give us the direction they are going in and due to the extensive list of products we carry these events are typically never the same. We also have quite a few movie premiere after-parties that we are working on right now.

It sounds like you’ve got a busy couple of months coming up! What event furniture are your clients currently requesting the most?

White! I really think white is the new black. Every year I think we might turn away from using white furniture but the more I look at the trends the more I see that white will never go out of style. We can typically create any type of look with our white furniture from eclectic to traditional to modern. Also, lighting is key at events and the hue that it casts on white furniture is visually stunning.

I know you have done so many special events and it may be hard to choose but what has been your most memorable or favorite event to date?

I was really proud to be a part of the design/fabrication of the 78^th Annual Academy Awards the first year we were in business, 2006. It was such a special moment for us and made us feel so accomplished. This awards show was different because the whole Academy Awards/Oscar after-party was lounge furniture. We custom built over 1,000 pieces for this event. I do have to say that every event is a favorite because furniture does add an element of comfort and style. It is so rewarding to see the completed product along with a happy client.

I have to tell you that I’ve never seen such an extensive event furniture selection quite like yours, the categories and furniture lines on your website are so elegant and with so many different styles to choose from. Where do you get your ideas for adding new pieces to the line?

I am obsessed with Architectural Digest and movies. You can really create some wonderful ultra chic designs and blended pieces from ideas and trends found in movies. Our Clash of the Titans premiere was a perfect example of period style furniture that came out visually stunning. We love to create pieces that will work well in both a modern and period style setting.

You must have a favorite piece in the line?

I love so many pieces that is hard to say but if I had to pick a favorite piece it would be the Kidwell line. I love the black and white damask pattern and the richness of the fabric.

I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of furniture that d8* carries by looking at your website, how many items of furniture does d8 currently have in its entire inventory?

We have thousands of items and hundreds of product lines. It really is a place that you can get a traditional to modern look.

Being exposed to the event planning business around the clock why don’t you give us your opinion on the newest trends for events or what you think will be hot in 2011?

Lounge, Eco-Friendly, and more lounge furniture. People just want to sit comfortably at events and have quality designer furniture pieces, this fact isn’t going to change for a long time. How do you take away a comfy sofa vignette from your event and replace it with a folding chair? Whether it’s large or small there must always be some kind of lounge seating at an event.
